I was very bored today, so sculpted a tortoise shell on a hemisphere.
Base mesh. I unwrapped the base mesh using the ABF method.
Multi-res mesh at level 5
Baked a normal map onto the UV-map using Blender's internal bake functionality.

A bump map generated from the normal map using Artweaver.
This was then applied on the base mesh.
