UPDATE:
I did another test and you can see it here. Viva FiberMesh.
Introduction:
Today I came across FiberMesh, a tool for designing freeform surfaces using 3D curves. The tool is a research prototype being developed by Takeo Igarashi and some others (University of Tokyo). I decided to give it a try and here are the results.
As the software exports an obj file , I could easily import into blender and sculpt it.

I first drew control curves and and then pulled them to my heart's content and finally arrived at a dinosaur like shape.
Here is a wireframe of the generated surface. I exported an obj from FiberMesh and then imported into Blender. I removed as many triangles as possible using ALT+J (Convert to quads). I smoothed the model a bit.
So this was the base mesh for sculpting. I added 6 levels of multi-resolution and started the polygonal damage using the sculpting tools in Blender.
..... 50. 51. ....67......
I used cloud and voronoi texture brushes to add whatever fantasy detail i needed.
Finally gave some color to the dino using vertex painting.
Pretty cool huh!!!
